چکیده
Since 2008, we are investigating the role of platelet function assessment and viscoelastic blood clot properties assessment in prediction of excessive bleeding after cardiac surgery procedures. In order to optimize hemostatic management in routine cardiac surgery, use of rotational thromboelastometry for heparin-protamine management should be considered. We believe that our article would be of interest to your readers.

Activated coagulation time vs. Intrinsically activated modified rotational thromboelastometry in assessment of hemostatic disturbances and blood loss after protamine administration in elective cardiac surgery: analysis from the clinical trial (NCT01281397)
BACKGROUND Excessive bleeding after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is risk factor for adverse outcomes after elective cardiac surgery (ECS). Although many different point-of-care devices to diagnose hemostatic disturbances after CPB are available, the best test is still unclear. The study aim was to compare the accuracy of hemostatic disorder detection between two point-of-care devices. METHODS...

Bleeding following cardiac surgery is a serious event with potentially life-threatening consequences. Preoperative recognition of coagulation abnormalities and detection of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) related coagulopathy could aid in the start of preventive treatment strategies that minimize perioperative blood loss. Most algorithms that analyze thromboelastometry coagulation tests in electiv...

INTRODUCTION During liver transplantation, continuous laboratory monitoring of complex changes of the hemostatic system is necessary. The aim of this study was to compare two methods of monitoring: standard coagulation tests and rotational thromboelastometry. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 17 patients who had undergone orthotopic liver transplantation in the Clinical Centre of Vojvod...

BACKGROUND Thromboelastometric evaluation of coagulation might be useful for prediction and management of bleeding after paediatric cardiac surgery. We tested the hypothesis that the use of a thromboelastometry-guided algorithm for blood product management reduces blood loss and transfusion requirements. METHODS We studied 78 patients undergoing paediatric cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary...
